Welcome Oriana Riley: Lifelong Storyteller Turned GovTech Champion

Journalism, fiction writing, a film set or two. Now she's telling Holly's story.

Say hello to our new marketing coordinator, Oriana Riley!

Oriana is a storyteller, and she has been since long before marketing was on the table. She's tried every format she could find: journalism, novel-writing, social media, editorial, and even an embarrassingly popular Taylor Swift fan page she ran as a tween. At Holly, all of it has a home. She runs our socials, writes blog posts, preps webinars, and handles conference logistics. When the messaging is sharp, the sales team and engineers can stay focused on the mission. That's how she thinks about the job.

We sat down with Oriana to talk about what brought her to Holly, what most people don't know about her, and her impressively non-reluctant relationship with running.

What will you be doing at Holly?

I'll be serving as Holly’s marketing coordinator, shaping how we show up online and at events and sharing Holly’s mission and value with as many local governments as possible! What this means in practice is that I'll be running our socials, writing blog posts, prepping our webinars, and handling conference logistics. Making sure our messaging is top-notch allows our sales crew and engineers to focus on the mission at hand.

What drew you to Holly?

At first, it was simply the mission of bringing more Americans into public sector jobs. Then, throughout the interview process, the team was passionate, welcoming, and incredibly bright. It was an easy choice to join them.

What drew you to working in govtech / the public sector?

Public service careers are some of the most vital jobs in our nation, and yet, often some of the most thankless. A company specifically dedicated to the public sector, making it easier to bring qualified candidates into essential roles, built by people that truly care about the work they're doing is a company I want to be part of!

What's something about your background people wouldn't guess?

Something about my background people wouldn't guess: I had a short-lived, although pretty awesome career as a child actress. I was in a few short films and got paid $200 to be an extra in the 2012 edition of Annie (big bucks for eleven-year-old Oriana.) Only when I was sixteen did I realize a life in front of the camera was truly not for me. I prefer telling stories from behind-the-scenes now!

Go-to way to recharge outside of work?

Running. I know, I know. Me and every other twenty-something who lives in a big city but I promise I've been in it since my parents dragged me to 5ks as an eight-year-old. Only now, I actually like it!

What drew you to marketing?

Storytelling is my lifeblood. I've dabbled in all forms of it: journalism, novel-writing, social media, editorial, and even an embarrassingly popular Taylor Swift fan page I ran as a tween. Shaping Holly's messaging is the newest (and one of the most exciting) ways I get to tell stories that matter and that connect people with the things they need (whether that be public sector HR AI or updates on TSwift.)

So glad to be here!
