Welcome Dustin Lucas: His Unlikely Path from the Classroom to GovTech

Holly's newest BDR used to work for public institutions, now he helps them find better tools

Dustin Lucas is joining Holly as our newest BDR.

Dustin came to sales through an unlikely door: he spent years directing music in public schools before moving into sales. Since then, he's been selling to state and local government HR and finance teams because he wants them spending time on the work that matters, not the stuff that gets in the way.

We sat down with Dustin to talk about what drew him to Holly, what drives him, and what most people don't know about him.

What will you be doing at Holly?

I joined Holly as a Business Development Representative, helping introduce our platform to more local governments and public-sector HR teams. My role will focus on building relationships, learning about customer needs, and connecting teams with tools that can make their work easier and more effective.

What drew you to govtech?

I used to work in the public sector, so I understand how hard public servants work and have always wanted to support them however I can. Govtech stood out to me because better tools can help them spend more time on the work that matters most.

What drew you to Holly specifically?

I was drawn to Holly because the team is solving a real problem for the people who keep local government running. I'm excited to be part of a company that combines great and new AI technology with a clear mission and a lot of care for its customers.

What do you do outside of work?

I like to golf and drive Formula 1 races in my simulator. I also lived in Dubai for a few years during my childhood, and it helped me understand cultural differences across the world.

What's the best advice you've ever received?

"Don't be an idiot" ...changed my life.

Excited to be here. If you're a government HR or comp team, feel free to reach out at dustin@hollygov.com.
